On July 13, 2019, at approximately 5:45 p.m., officers from the Manitoulin detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Sudbury-Manitoulin Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Gore Bay Fire Department, responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 540 and Highway 542 in Gordon Township, Ontario.
A north bound vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign, striking a west bound vehicle. The driver of the west bound vehicle was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Four people in the north bound vehicle were treated for minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old from Kitchener, Ontario, has been charged with:
Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop, contrary to section 136(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act.
The intersection was closed for approximately six hours while officers investigated.
