Traffic Stop Leads to Charges for Sault Ste. Marie Men
(MCKERROW, ON) – On November 24, 2019, at approximately 3:00 a.m. members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a vehicle stop on Highway 17, in McKerrow, Ontario.
The driver had no identification and verbally identified themselves to police. Further investigation led officers to believe that the driver provided police a false name.
Tyler SEATON, 32-years-old, of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:
- Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC).
Further investigation revealed that the owner of the vehicle, who was also the passenger, was breaching his recognizance of bail.
Charles CARRICATO, 44-years-old, of Sault Ste Marie, was arrested and charged with:
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the CC.
The accused were released on a Promise to Appear and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on January 6, 2020.
Impaired Driver Arrested In Espanola
(ESPANOLA, ON) – On November 23, 2019, at approximately 2:47 a.m. officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Queensway Street in the Town of Espanola, Ontario.
It was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. As a result, Kurtis VERCH 22-years-old, from Worthington, Ontario, has been charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
The accused was issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. The driver is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, Ontario on January 6, 2020.

Vehicle Stolen From Espanola Found In Sudbury
(ESPANOLA, ON) – On November 13, 2019, at approximately 1:17 p.m., members from the Manitoulin (Espanola) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a stolen vehicle in the Town of Espanola, Ontario.
Information was received that the vehicle had since been located in the City of Sudbury. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Kristofor SIREN, age 35, of Espanola, Ontario.
On November 20, 2019, the accused was arrested by the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) and charged by the OPP with:
- Theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on December 16, 2019.
