Stolen Property Recovered

(MASSEY, ON) – On December 16, 2019, members from the Manitoulin (Espanola) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by the Tactical Response Unit (TRU), the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Crime Unit, executed a search warrant at an address in the Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, Ontario.

A large quantity of stolen property was recovered, valued at approximately $100,000.

Controlled Drugs and Substances seized were valued at approximately $19,000,
Vehicles recovered were valued at approximately $35,000,
Firearms recovered were valued at approximately $730,
Machinery and tools recovered were valued at approximately $13, 500,
Miscellaneous items recovered were valued at approximately $31,500.
As a result of the investigation, the following individuals have been arrested and charged:

Richard MILLER, 62-years-old, of Massey, Ontario has been charged with the following:
Possession property obtained by crime over $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm contrary to section 91(1) CC,
Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 86(1) CC.
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on February 3, 2020.

2. Desiree ENSE, 21-years-old, of M’Chigeeng First Nation, Ontario has been charged with the following:

Theft under $5000 (2 counts) contrary to section 334(b) CC,
Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) CC,
Possession of a Schedule I substance – other drug contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA),
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin) (2 counts) contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Heroin contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs (2 counts) contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) CDSA.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on January 20, 2020.

3. Richard MILLER, 38-years-old, of Massey has been charged with the following:

 

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin) (3 counts) contrary to section 5(2) CDSA.
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Heroin contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs (2 counts) contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
Possession property obtained by crime over $5000 (5 counts) contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) CC,
Unauthorized possession of weapon (2 counts) contrary to section 91(2) CC,
Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition (2 counts) contrary to section 86(1) CC,
Unauthorized possession of a firearm (2 counts) contrary to section 91(1) CC,
Fail to comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) CC,
Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (2 counts) contrary to section 117.01(1) CC.
The accused was sent to Bail Court in Sudbury and remains in custody with a scheduled bail hearing on January 9, 2020.
