OTTAWA — Statistics Canada says the consumer price index in February rose 2.2 per cent compared with a year ago.
The increase comes after a year-over-year increase of 2.4 per cent in January.
Economists had expected a reading of 2.1 per cent for February, according to a poll by financial markets data firm Refinitiv.
Canada’s national annual inflation rate was 2.2 per cent in February and here’s what happened in the provinces (previous month in brackets):
- Newfoundland and Labrador: 1.7 per cent (2.2)
- Prince Edward Island: 2.2 (3.0)
- Nova Scotia: 2.5 (2.6)
- New Brunswick: 2.2 (2.5)
