(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On March 25, 2020, at approximately 8:30 a.m., members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a disturbance at a residence on Beckett Boulevard in the City of Elliot Lake.
Complainants reported a person yelling at them from across the street. The person then exited an apartment building and chased them with a knife. Prior to police arrival, the person re-entered the apartment and refused to exit.
The OPP’s East Algoma Crime Unit, Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team (ERT), and the Critical Incident Command (CIC) assisted with the investigation.
The accused was eventually arrested by police.
Lindsey O’BRIEN, 35 years-old, from Elliot Lake, was charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC) – (Two Counts),
- Carrying Concealed Weapon, contrary to section 90 of the CC, and
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on March 26, 2020.
