(WAWA, ON) – On March 31, 2020, at approximately 9:15 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Northeast Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the Superior East OPP Detachment executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Churchill Avenue in Wawa.
During the search, officers located approximately $1700 in cash, as well as quantities of suspected methamphetamine, cocaine and oxycodone. The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately $3000. In addition to drugs, officers also located the following prohibited weapons:
- Handheld Crossbow
- Expandable Baton
- Conductive Energy Weapon (CEW)
As a result of the investigation, three people were arrested and charged.
Blake KOMARNISKI, 36 years-of-age, from Wawa, was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
- Unauthorized Possession of Weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code (CC) – (Three Counts),
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC,
- Failure to Comply with Release Order, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the CC – (Seven Counts), and
- Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA).
The accused was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.
Krista STONE, 21 years-of-age, from Wawa, was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
- Unauthorized Possession of Weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC – (Three Counts), and
- Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the CA.
Colton VALLIERE, 26 years-of-age, from Wawa, was charged with: - Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Other Drugs, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA, and
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the CC – (Two Counts).
The remaining two accused parties were released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 8, 2020, in Wawa.
