DRIVER ON THREE-WHEELER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED
(SPANISH, ON)- On May 22, 2020, shortly after 4:00 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on a three-wheeler popping wheelies and driving through people’s yards in the area of Stolar Crescent in the Town of Spanish.
Police located the three-wheeler on Stolar Crescent. After speaking with the driver, officers concluded alcohol had been consumed.
As a result of the investigation, Samuel SHARPE, age 21, from Spanish, was charged with:
Operation While Impaired-Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
Operation While Impaired-Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC,
Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA),
Novice Driver-Blood Alcohol Concentration above Zero, contrary to section 44.1(3) of the HTA, and with
Not Properly Insured, contrary to section 17- Ontario Regulation 316/03 of the HTA.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on July 2, 2020. The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the three-wheeler was impounded for seven days.
SUSPENDED DRIVER CHARGED
(TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE, ON)- On May 23, 2020, at approximately 11:45 a.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 108.
Police located the vehicle at the junction of Highways 108 and 17 and initiated a traffic stop. The driver could not produce a valid driver’s licence. A query revealed the driver was suspended.
As a result of the investigation, Richard LIZOTTE, age 66, from Elliot Lake, was charged with: Driving While Suspended, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on July 15, 2020.
