(BLIND RIVER, ON)- On June 18, 2020, shortly after 4:00 p.m., members from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and OPP North East Canine Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Archambeault Street in the Town of Blind River.
Officers seized a quantity of drugs suspected to be: Crack Cocaine, Oxycodone and drug paraphernalia and over $ 1600 in Canadian currency. The street value of the drugs is approximately $250.
As a result of the warrant, one person was arrested and charged. Michel FORTIN, age 58, from Blind River, was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA);
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance- Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA;
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance-Other Drugs, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA; and with
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on August 6, 2020.
