Person Arrested For Theft Of Donation Jar


(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On December 20, 2020, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) made an arrest in relation to a previous theft from a gas station on Highway 108 in Elliot Lake.

On December 2, 2020 a donation jar with cash and coin was stolen from a location gas station on Highway 108 in Elliot Lake. The person was captured on surveillance video inside the store and outside fleeing the scene on an E-bike.

On December 20, 2020, police observed an E-bike and operator on Ottawa Avenue matching that of the suspect from the gas station theft. The person was subsequently stopped and arrested.

William SINCLAIR, 50 years of age, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

Theft Under $5000, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code, contrary to section 320.18(1)(a) of the CC,
Driving While Under Suspension (Two Counts), contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on February 2, 2021.
