On Saturday, December 19, members of the Club Richelieu Les Patriotes with family members and friends proceeded with the distribution of some 120 Christmas baskets for families in need in Greater Sudbury. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Club Richelieu Les Patriotes developed a safe production and distribution process that reduced social contact and ensured the safety of club members and volunteers as well as families receiving the baskets. A detailed schedule and distribution process was produced to limit contacts and COVID-19 health protocols were respected.
While certain members organized the food items and distributED them in baskets, other volunteers ensureD their distribution to some 120 families in need in Great Sudbury. Included will be varied food items such as ham, tourtière (meat pie), turkey, milk, cheese, bacon, etc. The baskets will allow these families to celebrate Christmas with dignity.
The Club Richelieu Les Patriotes has conducted this sharing activity for more than 30 years. Last year, some 130 families received a Christmas basket. It is estimated that no less than 3,000 baskets have been distributed by Club Richelieu Les Patriotes since the launch of the Christmas Baskets initiative some 30 years ago
