Family Dispute Results in an Assault Charge

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On April 2, 2021 shortly after 11:00 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a family dispute at a residence on Duff Road in Plummer Additional Township.

Investigation determined an argument ensued between two people where it escalated to where one of the individuals was physically assaulted.

As a result, Steven PLAINE, 27 years-of-age from Plummer Additional Township was charged with:

  • Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on June 10, 2021.

OPP Lays Fail to Comply Charges

(MUNICIPALITY OF HURON SHORES, ON)- On April 2, 2021 shortly after 8:30 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a neighbor dispute on Dumond Road in the Municipality of Huron Shores.

Investigation determined an argument ensued between two neighbors. One of the neighbors was on conditions not to communicate with the complainant and as a result, Artur MROCZKOWSKI, 58 years-of-age from the Municipality of Huron Shores was charged with:

  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code (three counts).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on June 10, 2021.

OPP Lays Stunt Driving Charge

(MUNICIPALITY OF HURON SHORES, ON) – On April 4, 2021, a member from the Sault Ste Marie Highway Safety Division (HSD) unit was on patrol duties on Highway 17 within the Municipally of Huron Shores.

Shortly after 8:00 a.m., the officer observed a vehicle travelling at high rate of speed of more than 50 km/hr over the posted 90 km/hr speed limit and a traffic stop was initiated.

As a result of the investigation, a 79 year-old from Spanish, was charged with:

  • Race a Motor Vehicle-Excessive Speed, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver was issued a seven day Driver’s Licence Suspension and their vehicle was impounded.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Sault Ste Marie Provincial Offences Court on May 5, 2021.
