(MASSEY, ON) – The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid drug-related charges in connection with an incident which sent two people to hospital.
On June 11, 2021, shortly after 2:30 a.m., members from the Manitoulin OPP and Sudbury-Manitoulin Paramedic Services responded to a disturbance and administered Naloxone.
Two persons were transported to a hospital in Espanola by Sudbury-Manitoulin Paramedic Services and subsequently released.
As a result of the investigation, a 44 year-old from Webbwood, was charged with:
Criminal Negligence Cause Bodily Harm, contrary to section 221 of the Criminal Code (CC)
Administer Noxious Substance Cause Bodily Harm, contrary to section 245(a) of the CC
Trafficking in Schedule I, contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
The name of the accused cannot be released in order to protect the identity of the victims.
The investigation by members of the Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) is continuing, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
