Arrest Made In Child Death Investigation

On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, members of the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, arrested a Strathroy resident following a joint investigation into the death of a 15-month-old child.

On October 31, 2015, Nathaniel MCLELLAN, 15 months of age of the Municipality of North Middlesex, died in a London hospital.

Meggin VAN HOOF, 42-years-old of Strathroy, has been charged with Manslaughter, under Section 236(b) of the Criminal Code. The accused was held in custody for a scheduled court appearance on June 23, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice in London.

The investigation was completed by members of the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service, Middlesex OPP Crime Unit, OPP West Region Criminal Operations and OPP Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in cooperation with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
