Tye Kartye scored a hat trick to lead the Soo Greyhounds to a 6-3 victory Thursday over the Barrie Colts in Ontario Hockey League action.
All three were power-play goals, his third the insurance goal at Sadlon Arena.
Luc Brzustowski, Cole Mackay and Bryce McConnell-Barker scored one apiece for Sault Ste. Marie.
Oskar Olausson, Ethan Cardwell and Jacob Frasca scored for the Colts, who led 2-0 after the first period. Brzustowski’s goal at 0:59 of the second period sparked a four-goal outburst by the Greyhounds.
Samuel Ivanov stopped 33 shots for the winners, while Barrie’s netminder Matthew Sbrocca turned aside 22 shots.
The Greyhounds are 2-1-0 on the season, while Barrie dropped to 0-2-1.
PETES 5, WOLVES 3
PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – Tucker Robertson had a goal and three assists in Peterborough’s 5-3 win over Sudbury.
Robertson got the Petes on the scoreboard at 0:22 of the second period, then assisted on goals by Keegan McMullen, Nick Lardis and Emmett Sproule. Kaspars Ziemins scored Peterborough’s other goal.
Evan Konyen, Nathan Ribau and Quentin Musty scored for Sudbury.
Tye Auston stopped 12 shots for the Petes (1-2-0) before he was replaced by Michael Simpson, who saved 18 shots for the win.
Mitchell Weeks turned aside 19 shots for Sudbury (2-2-0).
FIREBIRDS 3, OTTERS 2
FLINT, Mich. – Zacharie Giroux scored the game-winner as the Flint Firebirds fought back from a 2-1 deficit to beat the Erie Otters 3-2.
Tyler Deline and Brennan Othmann had Flint’s other two goals, Othmann’s power-play goal tying the game at 14:08 in the third, before Giroux got the short-handed winner at 19:00 at Dort Financial Center.
Brendan Hoffmann and Colby Saganiuk scored for Erie.
Luke Cavallin made 37 saves for Flint (2-0-0), while Nolan LaLonde stopped 26 shots for Erie (0-2-0).
